The Scottish Rite of freemasonry is unbelievably a great wealth of information. The system is set up in bodies of grades or degrees just like your school systems.
Elementary schools Middle schools and High schools and then Colleges. All the grades of elementary does not make you a junior high student nor does all the grades of junior high make you a high schooler. You have to complete those grade to be considered a member or participate of the other.

So In freemasonry you have to complete your third degree and then apply to be a member in the Scottish rite. Then you will attend the separate bodies of degrees. The first body of degrees are called The Lodge of Perfection. Because you may have the opportunity to complete this entire body of degrees does not make you a member of the next body called Rose Croix. But if you complete the Lodge of Perfection you may be asked if you desire to go further if you are found worthy.

Once you complete Rose Croix you then have to be asked if you want to go into the Council of Kadosh. If your request is granted this does not make you a member of the Consistory.
You have to complete the trials of the Council of Kadosh and satisfy the Tribunal. Only then will you be eligible to enter the Consistory.

Just like your school systems, you can not enter college without completing the latter school’s. Remember you have requirements that you must meet to advance in all of masonry. It starts with your character as a good man and we only want for you the same that we want for ourselves and that is to be better.
